Attic Ladders and Attic Storage Options

Attics can be a great place to store storage totes filled with items such as Christmas decorations. If you also need to maintain a proper depth of insulation over the ceiling of the house, you might be in the market for attic shelves elevated above the ceiling. If you only have a small opening into the attic you might want to add a sturdy ladder pull-down access point to your attic. This will make it safer and easier for you to do future maintenance work, perform inspections, and of course access things you might choose to store up there.

On this project we created shelves in attic so that we can add 12 inches of blown fiberglass (R30) above the garage ceilings for a cooler garage in the summer/ warmer in winter while maintaining storage space. We also added a very sturdy pull-down ladder for safer and more convenient access. (Note ceiling had minor drywall cracks prior to our work)
