Achieving R49 Final Value in a Boise Attic that Originally Had R19 Insulation

This week we had a homeowner reach out to us due to high electric bills in the summer and winter.

Upon inspection, we discovered the attic at an R19. Code is R49, we added an R30 to achieve a final R-value of R49.

Issue: R19 insulation, needed R49.

Cause: Not enough attic insulation was added when the home was built.

Our Resolution:  Added an additional R30 on top of the current insulation to achieve an R49.
